Brenda Liberman – Programmer, Contemporary World Cinema, Late Shows & Canadian

One of the three Quebec feature films programmed in this year’s festival, I KILLED MY MOTHER has recently become the most talked about Canadian film in recent years at Cannes, and is one of my personal favorites. Xavier Dolan’s debut feature film is a semi-autobiographical story told with such exactness, in a raw and intimate portrayal of his personal relationship between himself and his mother (Anne Dorval). One of the youngest directors to get such praise, Xavier Dolan wrote, produced, directed and stars in the film that has already won several awards, and is being booked across the globe in various festivals.
