“Revanche” is a fantastic Austrian film that was one of the five finalists for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Academy Awards. I had a chance to preview this film, and I was quite impressed. Johannes Krisch is wonderful in the lead role of Alex, an underling for a brothel owner who wants to start over, but runs into some unanticipated problems instead. The story also involves the lives of Robert and Susanne, who both become important in Alex’s story as well. The plot is full of interesting surprises and riveting drama. And Johannes Thanheiser steals scenes on a regular basis as Alex’s grandfather.
“Revanche” plays tonight at 7pm at and Sunday at 5pm at the Globe Cinema.
