Calling all Saskatchewan farm girls and Canadians alike! Balancing past and present timelines alongside the comedic melodrama of a dysfunctional family and one man’s desperate attempt to find true love, in a small (remote) Icelandic community. The filmmaker captures the complexity of simplistic characters that, on some level, we have all known or perhaps are even related to, in our own lives. Coupled with a cinematically beautiful portrayal of Icelandic landscapes that feel familiar and distantly Canadian, perhaps this film felt a bit like coming home for me.
