Volunteer with CIFF in 2009!
At the Calgary International Film Festival, we pride ourselves on having a team of highly dedicated, personable and engaged volunteers. We are grateful that with the help of many film-loving locals, we are able to provide an annual world-class cinema event for Calgarians.
Administration -
Year-round office help, including film festival research, film library maintenance, data entry and clerical duties. Weekday daytime availability is an asset.
Special Events/Gala Team -
Hosting and serving at various CIFF events, including the volunteer parties and Festival Galas.
Festival Courier -
Transport packages between the CIFF offices and venues during the Festival. Own transporation is required.
Theatre Attendants -
The majority of our volunteers will work as theatre attendants, providing crowd control, counting tickets, ushering guests and supporting the existing staff at the venues.
Artist Liaison/Transportation -
Providing excellent service to any visiting celebrities, helping to maintain the hospitality suites at local hotels. Ensuring that visiting guests of the festival arrive at their various destinations in a timely manner
Box Office -
Selling tickets and passes in the CIFF office. Cash handling experience is an asset.
Marketing Crew -
Poster-hanging, delivering programs, and reaching cultural communities in the city.
Team Leaders (for all of the above) -
Experienced volunteers; can coordinate and schedule a team of 5-15 people and direct their activities to ensure smooth operations.
Preview Team -
A number of volunteers annually express interest in becoming a previewer for CIFF and the Programming team every spring. This is a highly contested position (who wouldn't want to watch current and free films from all over the world?) and the Programming Department is very careful to keep this volunteer base a manageable size, efficiently constructed, and highly accountable. It is an important position in the festival process and is often underestimated as far as workload goes and level of commitment.

Those interested in being considered can type up (one page or less) a quick bio and explanation for why they might be qualified and willing to review international shorts, documentaries, and world fiction content for CIFF. Please specify interest in certain genres if you have any preferences or expertise (ie. Late Shows, documentaries, etc.).
